Hi Mary Ann,

My cat Smokey passed away almost a year ago, on April 4, 2006. She was 12 years old. My husband Kevin sees her around the house from time to time. I do too.

She was like my baby, always at my side. When Kevin had to stay in the hospital for a few days Smokey stayed by the front window, waiting for him. I miss her so much. I watched her be born and watched her die.

The vet said it was a tumor. Could you please tell me if she is in peace?

Thanks so much.

Hello Lynn,
Smokey sounds like she was a great cat and I am sure she visits you since Kevin has seen her.

Animals are OK with dying, especially when they have health problems.

I am sure she feels way better now and is at peace.

I lost Misty, my toy pom, two years ago, and I have her ashes with me. She was 17. I said I would never get another one. Now I have four different breeds that I love so much. I'm just hoping that she isn't upset with me. Her brother Bandit has been gone now seven years. We laid him to rest on a mountain in Vancouver, Canada. Is he upset with me for having him with me? ....I miss them both every day.

Thanks for your time,

Kathy

Dear Kathy,
No, I am sure Misty and Bandit are just fine. They never want you to be unhappy, so I am sure they visit you often. Usually when you start thinking about them for no reason, they are visiting. I am sure they know they will see you again in the future.

I gave my dog away because I had left for Mexico and I took him with me. I had no way to bring him back so I had to give him away to my godmother.

I loved my Pomeranian dog. I called him "Boy" because he was my boy. I didn't really get to see him much because I worked and only could go to Mexico at times. When Boy saw me he would get happy and would jump and bark like he knew who I was.

He passed one or two months ago but I never got to say goodbye or see him before he passed. Is there any message he has for me or anything he wanted to say?

Thanks,

Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Boy is not upset with you for not seeing him before he died. You found him a good home with your godmother. It's not like you dumped him somewhere. When he sees you again he will be jumping and barking again, he will be so happy.

Just wanting to know that my dear, sweet Naconia, who suffered from seizures, made it to the Rainbow Bridge, and is not mad at me for not being there when the time to go came? I miss him so much.

Hi Karen,
You have got this a little mixed up. Naconia will be waiting for YOU at Rainbow Bridge, and so happy that he does not have seizures anymore.

Our Family dog passed away not that long ago. His name was Rocky. I was just wondering if he is happy where he is now, and if he is not upset with us for putting him down?

Thanks!

Hi Heather,
Rocky would not be mad at you for putting him to sleep. Our dogs are so loyal and trust us. They would never believe we would do anything to hurt them.

I am sure he is at peace now.

Hannah was my best friend. We did everything together and all our time was spent together. She was hit and killed last July (she was six years old) and I am still grieving. I would give anything to have her just one more day. I didn't get to tell her goodbye and in an instant she was gone.

I grieved so badly for companionship like hers, I got two new dogs. They are not Hannah. I know, I love them, but not like I did her. She was special. I need her to know that I am truly sorry and I miss her so much it hurts my heart every day.

Is she OK? Is she happy? Does she know how much I loved her?

Debra

Hi Debra,
Hannah knows how much you love and miss her.

But do not forget that when our pets come back and visit us, they can get upset if they see that we are upset. It can be confusing to them. They feel good and have wonderful freedom. They can come and go. And you are upset.

Try to dream of Hannah and you will see how good she is. We can all dream of our pets and see for ourselves.

Hi Mary Ann,

I watch you on Good Company here in Cleveland and I've been wondering why I haven't seen my dog Celebrin, who I loved dearly, that died four years ago on March 20th. I always expected to dream about her, but she's never come to me and I wonder why.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Maybe Celebrin does come in your dreams, but you do not remember them. Sometimes medications or sleeping too soundly can keep you from recalling your dreams.

Make a little pouch of an herb called mugwort. Place it between your pillow and pillowcase. It will help you to remember your dreams.
