| Delores Timberlake, OH | Hi, This may sound strange, or not. My dad passed away about three years ago. When I was a kid, he liked Bridget Bardot and I taught our parakeet at the time to say her name. Well, I am now 53 and have a very chatty parakeet and about six months ago she added "Bridget Bardot" to her long list of things she says. I did not teach her that, haven't thought about it for years. I even tape-recorded her one day and she said it. I have always had a connection with those that have passed. My mom, sister, and I went to my dad's grave on what would have been their anniversary, and I'm sure he picked up some oak leaves and swirled them all around us. When I said "Alright, Dad, that's enough," the leaves instantly fell into a pile. I would love to know if spirits can teach a parakeet to say something. Thank you. | Hi Delores, Wow, your dad has a great sense of humor! What a unique way he came up with to let you know that he crossed over and is content. He would not have been able to teach your parakeet to say "Bridget Bardot" if he was earthbound. Swirling leaves is fairly easy for a ghost that has crossed over. Your letter is not strange at all. | VnK Dana Point, CA | Before we bought our house, a woman died in it. She wasn't found for days. There was one other owner before we purchased the home. We have remodeled several things and each time strange things happen. Recently my daughter woke to a "big crash and footsteps upstairs," not walking, but sliding across the plywood floor. We have not yet carpeted. I have heard this many times before over the last year. My husband, who thinks I might be slightly off, actually hears the crash too on occasion. I have asked her to leave over the years in the event it is the woman that died…she is apparently unwilling. She scared me pretty good last summer when a picture of my oldest daughter fell off the wall. I looked at the back of the picture and it appeared to the wire, which held it to the wall hanging on a screw, was cut with scissors. So, can she or is she still here? How can I get her to leave? I just want my girls to be safe. Can they coexist? And maybe it's not who I think it is. My sister died four years ago this weekend. Could she be visiting? Thanks for any info. | |
| Hello VnK, I believe that you have at least one earthbound ghost in your house. Yes, it could be the previous owner. But there is no way I can tell for sure who it is from a letter. You never stated how old your girls are. With the sliding on the uncarpeted floors and your daughter's picture falling off the wall, I would not be surprised if it is an earthbound ghost of a young girl who is just hanging out with your children. It is the anniversary of your sister's death, but she has crossed over. Why would your sister try to scare or upset you? She is just visiting because you have been thinking about her. Mary Ann | ||
| Jennifer Youngstown, OH | I am just wondering. A lot of psychics talk about having "spirit guides." How do they differ from ghosts and is it possible that they sometimes are family members or someone who was close to you when they were alive? | |
| Hi Jennifer, Very good question. First of all, we have a guardian angel with us from our first to our last breath. Spirit guides are from the light. Apparently we can have as many as we need, up to sixteen or twenty at a time, to help us on our journey through life. Family members or friends that have crossed over can come back and help also, but not like your official spirit guides. It is very comforting to think that your family members can help you with morale or spiritual support. But it is your spirit guides that really know best how to help. Mary Ann | ||
| Mary West Warwick, RI | Hi MaryAnn, I was standing in the dining/kitchen area of an old house that was recently purchased by a man who intends to open a business on the same property. He had been doing a lot of remodeling and we are to return there in a few months to install some perennial beds. While speaking with him, something tugged in the inside of my elbow as if to draw my attention to a different area. I said nothing but then felt the tug again a moment later. This gentleman admitted that he had felt something pushing against the "cat door" to his basement and his cat hissed when he tried to urge her through the door. I noticed that he is afraid to be in his basement or alone in his home. What do I need to do to protect myself while I am there working? | |
| Hi Mary, Someone obviously does not want this house to be used as a business. It is probably a woman. If she loved her house when she was alive and was happy being there, she would want more families to have the same experience. Most earthbound ghosts that are attached to older properties do not want animals in the house. Years ago families kept dogs and cats outside, not like now. The gentleman's cat is very aware of how this ghost feels, that is why it is hissing. And the gentleman can feel the ghost's negative energy and her disapproval. That is why he is afraid to be alone. When all the remodeling is done, it would be good to have the property blessed by an ordained priest or minister, or smudge the property with sage or sweet grass. | Yvonne, Lubbock, TX | Dear Mary Ann, I was in the hospital for about two weeks and when I came home my husband told me that he was trying to go to sleep. While trying to do so he noticed shadows passing in front of our bedroom door in the hallway. He continued to see this for a while but just thought it was his eyes. He closed his eyes to get them to focus and when he opened them he said that he saw a little girl coming towards him. This scared him and he closed his eyes again and when he opened them she was gone. The house that we live in is a new house and we are the first family to live in it. I know that spirits can sometimes be connected to the land and not specifically a house but I was wondering if you can shine a little light on what it is. My husband often tells me that he hears voices in our bedroom and wants to know if I hear them also, since I tend to be quite sensitive, but I haven't. What do you think about this? | Hello Yvonne, Just because your house is new does not mean you cannot have a ghost. An earthbound ghost can go anywhere they want to. Who is going to stop them? It is the movies and television that always make it an old scary house. I think that ghosts get more fun scaring people in a new house, because the homeowner is not expecting it! Your husband seems very aware of the energy from ghosts, but I think he is sensing ghosts that have crossed over, not earthbound ones. If they were earthbound ghosts you would see and hear them also, because you say you are sensitive. When this happens to him again, all he has to say out loud is "You are annoying me. Please leave." Because they have crossed over, they have to listen to him. Give that a try. Mary Ann | ||

| Hi Kim, Yes, I believe in Heaven and Hell, God and Satan. Everybody, good and bad, has the bright white light around them when they take their last breath. When I release an earthbound ghost, I create the white light they lost when they died. I have let some ghosts into that light that had done some nasty things when they were alive. I believe that someone is standing at the end of the white light with a clip board, deciding who goes where! So yes, I think everyone goes where they are supposed to be. Mary Ann |
