Mary Ann,
Two weeks ago we lost our 23-year-old nephew who was murdered senselessly and his mother is traumatized. She and her son had gotten into a fight two days before and were not speaking. Then this happened. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would like her to be able to communicate with him to maybe be able to say things she would have wanted to say to her son. Is this possible? Can you help her?

I am sorry for your family's tragic loss. If your nephew went into the bright white light after the funeral, then his mother or you at some point will be able to communicate with him in a dream. Most people do not realize that ghosts that have crossed over come into dreams and you can have a conversation with them. I am also sure that at 23 years old your nephew would not hold a grudge against his mother. However, because it was a violent death it could take from six to 18 months before he appears to someone in a dream.

Dear Mary Ann,
I have had numerous psychics send me mail over the years. (Two I had requested talisman from, the rest unsolicited.) I was told repeatedly that my house has something in it that is causing me illness. I did have numerous illnesses, including serious ones. I did survive them. However, I did hear in the living room low voices and when we entered they stopped. I presume they are deceased relatives. I do not believe there is anything in my house that is evil. Years ago there was a Ouija board. I do not recall if it got tossed out or not.

We are retired and my husband has a lot of junk downstairs. I do as well. I don't sort it out as most of its is his stuff and I do'nt feel comfortable doing that. If I throw out something he may want I hear about it. So nothing gets done. I have had various talisman and rocks, keys, jewelry from psychics, etc. nothing became of it. I had tried various magic from books I ordered from England - Finbarr International. Could this be it? I still have this stuff here with the dire warnings that came with it.

How do I answer these psychics?

Personally, I would not even open up mail from any psychics that was unsolicited. I would return it to the sender. After a while they will get the message that you are not interested

You are most likely correct about your deceased relatives visiting. Any ghost that has crossed over into the white light after their funeral can visit you in dreams or come in and out of your house. Because they have crossed over they cause absolutely no problems.

Life happens, we all at sometimes have illnesses or things happen that are not pleasant, but you cannot blame earthbound ghosts for everything that goes wrong in your life. You should rely on your own instincts. If you believe your house is not evil then it probably does not have any negative energy in it. Any books that you order to learn about magic or spells, you should definitely follow all advice and warnings. They are in the book for a reason.

Hi Mary Ann,
My mother died three years ago. I live in Canada and she was in England. I was able to spend her last weeks with her. I still feel so guilty that she was cremated even though it was her wish. I consider cremation barbaric and even though I know her body was empty, I would love to have a grave as a focal point. As I do not live in England it would have been unfair of me to make my sister responsible for maintaining the grave. Personally, I would love to have her grave to maintain. How do spirits feel about watching their body go into an incinerator? I still have nightmares and images of her body melting just like an unwanted candle. I enjoyed listening to you on coast to coast.

It is very good that your mother's wishes were carried out. Sometimes when they are not that could be a reason for a ghost not to cross into the white light after their funeral. You did not say where your Mother's ashes are. Maybe your sister could send half of them to you and you could bury them in a local cemetery and she would have a grave and you would both be content.

I have never met a ghost who watched their body be prepared for viewing or cremated. It is like they know their earthbound time is limited and they have better things to do.

Since my mother died, June 9th of last year, I have been fighting depression and guilty feelings. I feel it is my fault that she underwent heart surgery at the age of 82 because I was the one along with her doctor that told her to go ahead with it so that she might have a better quality of life. The operation went very wrong. They ripped her esophagus during the operation and in addition to the long incision on her chest and leg, they had to cut her from side to side to fix the tear. She lived an additional month after the surgery and suffered greatly mentally and physically before she died. I now feel that if she hadn't had the surgery she might have lived a little longer and maybe died peacefully in her sleep. In addition, my sister and I had decided to have her cremated like my father was when he died eight years before. My mother was never too happy about the idea, but we thought it best at the time of her death, as we could then have her buried alongside my father. Is my mother mad at me for doing this? I hope not, but I still feel guilty.

You cannot blame yourself for your mother's death. You made an informed decision with her doctor's approval and I am sure your mother also had input. It is horrible that the surgery went so badly, but you or no one else could have known that. I do not think any surgeon, or hospital, ever wants mistakes to happen. I get the feeling your mother was very anxious to see your father. Cremating her or having the surgery would not be a reason for her to be angry with you. We all can only try to do the best that we can in very stressful situations.

This is going to sound way too weird, but it's a true story. One evening my daughter, my roommate and myself were in the kitchen sitting at the table talking when my daughter confessed that she was losing her faith. We talked about it for a while then we all three held hands. I began to pray out loud asking God to help my daughter find her way back to her faith. I think I started to get the Holy Ghost because my words became loud and erratic and I was almost to a sobbing point from what I remember. (This was about four or five years ago.) All at once my daughter pulled her hands out of mine like she was hurt and ran screaming from the room. We ran after her to find her sitting on a couch in the dining room. I looked into her eyes and saw something very evil. I started crying and screaming for whatever it was I saw coming out of my daughter and stupidly invited him into me (Anything to get it out of my daughter). Well, my wishes were obliged because my daughter looked at me, screamed and kicked me off of her about four feet back and ran out of the house. My roommate, who was on the phone at the time trying to ask advice from her very spiritual cousin, ran after my daughter to find out why she screamed. My daughter then informed my roommate that my face had opened up and the devil or something took the place of my face. My roommate, not believing it, came in the house, looked at me, screamed and ran out of the house. Her cousin came over with another cousin, brought their holy water and bibles, prayed over me, and I'll just leave it there. So...was it the devil or an evil spirit? We have an Autistic child in the house that we believe is being held back by something, but that's another story. We thought they may be connected some how. I have never gone to a church or anything about this even though I've wanted to so badly, but I'm afraid they will think I'm a nut case. The only reason I'm doing this now is because I just caught part of Mary Ann on our channel three morning station and she gave this website. Thank you for your time in this matter.

Let me start out by saying, yes, I believe there is a devil or Satan and Hell, but in over 55 years of doing this work I have never seen him! (Thank God.) My best guess is that there was a very negative earthbound ghost in your house at the time. Praying was good, but using holy water was not. It is okay if an ordained priest or minister uses holy water, but not a lay person. It will really upset and give earthbound ghosts even more energy, which you do not want to happen. From your letter, I do not believe this has anything to do with your autistic child. Children's guardian angels really do their job.

A woman with whom I worked told me her sister, who bought my grandmother's house, asked if my grandmother could still be there She told me that when she took her sweatpants out her sweats in the upstairs bedroom and laid them down they would disappear and then reappear in the small room downstairs. That small room was my grandmother's bedroom as she grew older and couldn't climb the stairs any longer. In her later years, she was most always in sweatpants. My grandmother had a stroke while sitting in her living room. I made a choice that day between visiting my grandmother and visiting an old friend whose "mate" was dying of cancer. I went to the friend's house and have always felt guilty for not choosing my grandmother as she sat in her living room, not being able to move for an extra three hours until my uncle found her. Is she still haunting her house because I did not stop?

From what you have described that is happening in the house, it could very well be an earthbound ghost. They can easily move things in a house. I would have no way of knowing if it is your grandmother from your letter, but I feel there could be some activity from an earthbound ghost going on.

Hello, I'm writing you in regards to a haunting at our house. We have lived in this house for over 10 years now. The haunting started out little by little, with electronic toys going on and off, etc., but gradually it has gotten worse, like lights going on and off and freezer doors opening, things getting knocked down and the ghost showing itself and knocking on the walls. We have tried to make contact by leaving a note with a pencil. The next day the note was torn in half. Have any suggestions? What is going on here?

Everything you have mentioned in your letter could be going on because of an earthbound ghost. Earthbound ghosts do not eat or sleep, but they need human energy to keep going, so if they can cause problems, stress you out, or cause people to fight they are getting the energy that they need. By talking to them you are acknowledging their presence, and in turn are giving them more energy. You are always better off ignoring them.

My two suggestions that can help anyone in this situation are;
  1. If you are affiliated with a church it NEVER hurts to have the house blessed. DO NOT get holy water and use it yourself. When a lay person uses holy water it only makes the earthbound ghosts angry.
  2. Get a smudge stick. Native Americans use a smudge stick to remove or calm down earthbound ghosts. It is also used to remove negative energy. It is usually made out of sage or sweet grass.

I'm 39 years old and ever since I was four, I've had experiences with ghosts. To this day I can't sleep with the lights off. I have a night light. Darkness terrifies me. I see shadows and hear other noises. I've heard voices, too, and once my body was dragged from the bed a few feet. My dog heard the voices as well because we stared at one another with horrified looks. Any ideas? I'm too embarrassed to tell my friends. They might think I'm nuts. I am a well rounded and adjusted woman. So, obviously anything related to the supernatural interests me. Will they ever stop?

If an earthbound ghost realizes that someone can see them or feel them, they will hang out and figure out how to push your buttons to generate the energy they need to keep going. When you are terrified, look at the energy you are putting out. So will it stop? Not if they can see that they are getting to you.

My name is Michelle and my son, who is three years old, sees ghosts sometimes. They always appear to him in his bedroom. It scares him 'cause he doesn't know what to do with it. I can only calm him down and tell them that they're friendly. I guess they are relatives or something like that. My father died one year ago and since then he sometimes comes to me and talks through me. I sometimes can't remember what I've said. Can ghosts really take over your body to talk to others through me? What can I do to tell the ghosts to come to me rather then going to my son? My eldest son doesn't see anything, only me and my youngest.

Children are so innocent they can see earthbound ghosts, ghosts that have crossed over, guardian angels, angels, saints and spirit guides. When they start reaching the age of five or six they start to see them less and less. Logic takes over or adults will say: you are a big boy now, there is no such thing, people are going to laugh at you. If you do not use it you lose it. So do not worry. Your son will soon be old enough to stop seeing them. No, your body is not being taken over by a ghost. If they are standing very close to you it could feel like they are. Try to talk to your father in your dreams.

I constantly feel as if someone is beside me. I'm not to sure if I'm into the whole, "I believe in ghosts," thing, but I try to hide it when i see things. One time my cousin was sleeping on the floor beside me and I was in my bed. I hear, "Hey Brittany," so I open my eyes to see what she wanted and I see a man crouching about nine inches away from my face and he was looking me straight in the eyes. He looked sickly. I let out a scream because he was so close, not to mention there was a man in my room. Then I jumped and my cousin screamed with me. So, no, I'm not crazy because she saw that I was spooked. Come to find out my uncle had died from cancer and that day was his funeral. That's not the only time something like that has happened, but that's the only time I had someone else in the room with me. I am not the only one in the family to "see things" that I can't explain. My aunt and my grandma do, too. I don't want to seem crazy. I feel crazy. I don't tell anyone except my aunt and my grandma. It makes my mother uncomfortable when I talk about things that I see in my dreams and how I know when someone dies. She doesn't like to hear me talk about it, but my grandma is the one who came up to me and told me that she knew something was different about me. I don't know what to believe because my family is a super religious Christian family. I wish that I could get your opinions on things so I could have some reassurance.

Well, you are right. We all have a guardian angel with us 24/7, and at any given time at least 10 spirit guides around us. These are all from the white light and, of course, relatives or friends that have died and crossed over can visit at any time, so sometimes you could feel like there is a crowd around you! A lot of times when a friend or relative dies, for about 72 to 80 hours after the service at the cemetery, they go in and out of houses visiting and saying goodbye. So that could have been your uncle. It happened in the middle of the night, so it scared you. As far as dreams go, I do not have enough knowledge to answer your questions on that subject.

Hi, I am 10 years old going on 11. You talked to my mother on the phone about our house. You know, the one with the painting on the mantel? I think you're the lady she talked to. My house has a young girl. I've seen her. She wears a bonnet type thing and a weird looking dress. It has ruffles. She has been around me on several accounts. She once took out my earring. I have gone into our playroom and she will be sitting on the bed and watching TV. Can you tell me what to do? I would like to help her move on. Also, my grandfather died in August. I would like to see him to tell him things. Maybe you can e-mail me and tell me when he is around. Please help me help the young girl move on. And please help me say goodbye to my grandfather.

I am sorry. I talk to so many people that I do not remember names, but I very well could have talked to your mother. Now about the young girl ghost in your house. She will be leaving on her own very soon. Children ghosts only stay in a house while the living children are close to their age, so each day you get older, she gets closer to leaving. When an earthbound ghost does not cross over they stay the same age as the day they died, so children ghosts never get older if they are earthbound and they will go to a house where the children are the same age as they are.

As for your grandfather, when you dream of him you will be able to talk to him all that you want.

My question is how can I make sure that my one and only daughter who died in a car accident four years ago, has crossed over and is happy? I watch your show every Friday and it leaves me in tears wondering about my daughter Jasmine. I miss her so much I wish I could feel her love. My heart is torn apart. I watched her die slowly in the hospital after the car accident. I just need to talk to her so she can let me know she is alright.

I am so sorry for your loss. The best way to talk to Jasmine is going to be in a dream. If you do not remember your dreams, get an herb called Mugwort and make a little pouch and put several tablespoons in it. Put the pouch in your pillowcase and in about three weeks you will start remembering your dreams.
