| Sarah Brisbane, Australia | Hi there, My name is Sarah and I live in Brisbane QLD, Australia. My grandmother passed away early Christmas morning two years ago. My family is close and I feel like we have become even closer through this experience. Since my grandmother passed away, we have all been seeing her or catching glimpses of her, especially when we have a social gathering. I read somewhere that for the first two years after someone dies they can hang around for a while. I was just wondering since she passed away so suddenly, is there something she would like to say to us or is she just making sure we are OK? | |
| Hi Sarah, How wonderful that your grandmother is not missing any family gatherings. There is no time limit once your grandmother crossed over. She can come and go as she pleases. | Halima Colombia | Hi, My name is Halima. I'm from Colombia. I've lived in a big house since I was five years old. In that time, my grandmother died. Every time when I passed the stairs I felt like someone was behind me. The years passed and I never feel that again. Now I'm 17 years old and I saw a black shadow in the stairs near a Virgin Mary we have. I just want to know what kind of spirit is it or what it wants. Sometimes I feel the presence of a spirit near me. I saw it very quickly and then I found that someone died that day. Why can I see it or feel it or if I even know it? Many bad situations come to my mind and I have to pray because if I don't it will pass. You know many times I am talking with my friends and I know what she is going to say or what we are going to do before we plan it out. It just comes to my mind and it happens. | |
| Dear Halima, It sounds to me like you have some psychic abilities. At this point you do not have a lot of control over it, so it is sort of hit and miss. The older you get, the more that you will trust your instincts and it will not be so confusing to you. The spirits you are feeling around you may be guides trying to help you develop your gift. Just because you see a black shadow that does not mean it is something bad. It is just that you are seeing this ghost as a shadow, and all shadows are black. | Mary Ellen Ontario, Canada | I was wondering what it means when one's alarm clock keeps turning off even if there is no power outage. Things go missing in my home only to reappear two or three months later. Could it be my father who died July 30, 1973, when I was only five months old or my husband's grandmother, who he dreams about from time to time? I used to blame my three-year-old for hiding things but I don't now. Plus, my three-year-old has conversations with the dead. Could he be a receiver of messages? Thanks Mary Ellen | |
| Hi Mary Ellen, Everything that you are describing that is happening in your house makes me think that you have an earthbound ghost. I would not be surprised if it is a ghost of a child. Your father and your grandmother have passed into the light, or your husband could not dream of them. Only ghosts that have crossed into the light can appear in dreams. Your son is talking and interacting with the ghost child. Think about it. A child could easily disrupt your house, alive or dead. Thanks Mary Ann | ||

| Hello Heather, Everyone has some ability to communicate with ghosts. We all do as young children, and then as we grow older we lose the ability. Most people do not even remember being able to do it. Some believing helps you to become more aware of who and what is around you. However, I do not really know of any school in America that actually teaches you how to talk to a ghost. Thanks Mary Ann | ||

| Dear Lisa, Because your mom died when you were eight years old, she stayed with you as a ghost. It is so very hard for a mom to die. All they do is worry about their children. Your mom has crossed over, but has watched over you all of these years. Now she is also enjoying her grandchildren. Your children can see their grandmother because young children have that ability. | Sandra Montreal, Canada | Hello Mary Ann, I am so grateful for this opportunity to get some closure, some peace. I am 30 years old. My mother passed away tragically in Barbados when I was 10 years old. She was hit by a van. My Father died when I was 21 years old. He had lung cancer. I have no other family here with me and my two sisters live across the country in British Columbia. I would feel great comfort knowing that my parents are alright. Hearing them say something to me, anything. I was so young when I lost them both, along with all of our memories with my mother. Every now and then I have detailed dreams of my father. I am not sure if he is trying to say something to me. But I never have anything with my mother. Is it possible that the deceased can send you messages through a dream state? | Hi Sandra, How hard it is to lose a parent when you are so very young. Let's talk about your father first. You are dreaming of him so he has crossed over. People who die from cancer or other lingering diseases usually will cross over. So your dad is definitely OK. Your mother died so tragically she probably did not cross over when she died. She may have been worried about you and your sisters. I bet she crossed over with your father when he died. I think she is at peace now also. You can get messages from them in dreams. On the anniversary of their death, on their birthdays, Christmas, your birthday, and other special dates, before you fall asleep, think of them and tell yourself, "If I dream of mom or dad tonight, I will talk to them." Maybe not right away, but eventually you will be able to hold a conversation with them in your dreams. Then you will see that they are at peace. Mary Ann | ||

| Hello Akshata, Crossing over is what a ghost does within 24 to 70 hours after their final funeral service. Going into the white light, is eternal rest, heaven, the other side, or whatever your belief the afterlife is. Once they are in that space, they can come back and forth for visits. They can also appear in dreams, and you can communicate with them. You can usually tell when they are visiting, you sense them, or smell a familiar scent that you would associate with that person. Or for no reason, you might start thinking of them. They do not miss family gatherings, birthdays, or holidays. Hope this answers your questions. Mary Ann |
