| Gina Virginia Beach, VA | When you no longer dream about a loved one or feel like they are around, does it mean that they were on the earth spiritually and have left? My brother was shot June 23, 2003. Another question, three months after my brother died, I had an incident that I felt was so real. I awoke early but then went downstairs and fell asleep on a rocking chair. While I was sleeping, I dreamt of my brother coming to me (looking younger). I started to cry in my dream when I saw him and told him I missed him soooo much. He sat on the couch. I told him I was going to sit by him. But I knew I would not be able to feel or touch him because when I dream of loved ones that have passed on, I am never able to hug or feel them. I can only talk with them. Well, I sat down next to him and he put his arms around me and hugged me. I felt him do this. I started crying more, telling him he wasn't here. But he kept telling me he was. He said he was fine. I told him I was worried about his pain and that I hated the way he died. He didn't say anything but sat down next to me again and I put my head on his shoulder. Next thing I knew, I was awakened by something. I have never forgotten this dream. Was it a dream or could my brother have come through in my dreams to help me deal with the pain of losing him? | Dear Gina, What a special gift your brother Rodney gave you. He did cross over, but he must have felt you needed to see and feel his touch to help you with your pain. As you said, usually you can only talk to spirits in a dream. I have been, unfortunately, to many law enforcement officers' funerals. Their sense of pride and honor for doing a job that they love is overwhelming. If they died on the job not one of them was sorry that they made the choice to go into that line of work. They are all aware of the danger they face everyday. Even though Rodney crossed over, he is still watching over you, just from a better, safer place. When he feels the need, you will dream of him and have your talks. And no matter what, he is always around at any family function or special occasion. Mary Ann | ||
| Michelle Raleigh, NC | My husband and I purchased a brand new house just over a year ago, December 2005. We have three children, ages six, five and two. I love my house but get very strange feelings in certain areas, mainly around the staircase, especially when I am alone. I told my husband that I think we have ghosts and he thinks I am crazy. He says it's a new house so how can it be haunted? I still feel like there are others here, specifically a mother and child. Most times they are playful and I sense them watching me from upstairs. Occasionally there are some very negative vibes, especially if I stay up late and am downstairs in our office alone. I feel like they don't want me downstairs and I get scared and run up to my husband. Then just yesterday I was taking a shower while my youngest daughter was napping and while washing my face I felt someone was in the shower with me. But with soap on my face I couldn't immediately open my eyes. The feeling was so strong I reached out, almost as if I was expecting to touch someone. Is it possible for my house to have spirits? Or could it be people that I know who have passed finally coming to say "Hi"? Thank you for your time, Michelle | |
| Hi Michelle, First of all, it makes no difference if you live in a new house or one that is older. You can have ghosts in either. I think you have several earthbound ghosts in the house, 24/7. But it also feels like you have several that come and go. Because you have the three young children, one of them could be a ghost child. Kids like kids and desire their companionship whether they are alive or dead. The one that feels negative, scaring you from your office or in the shower, is probably coming in and out. So no, I do not think that you are crazy. Relatives and friends that have died and crossed over do not try and scare you or say "Hi" in the shower! They will come in a dream to you. Here are some suggestions: Have your house blessed by an ordained priest or minister. Try using a smudge stick. I think it will help. Mary Ann | ||
| Jennifer | This will be my fifth Christmas without my husband. I lost him to liver cancer years ago. He has shown himself to me in little ways, but he is getting stronger. I'm not afraid because I know it is him, but I am worried about him because maybe he can't understand where he's supposed to be. I got him baptized before he passed away. The last time I felt and saw him was Saturday. He came up the staircase like he was jumping through a different dimension. It almost sounded like a train running up may staircase. I miss my husband terribly but I am not dreaming this. Do you have any answers or can you direct me to someone who can answer my questions? Thank you Jennifer | |
| Hi Jennifer, I am sorry for your loss, but my experience has shown me that very few cancer deaths stay earthbound. Just because most people dream of their relatives and friends that have crossed over does not mean that is the only way to see them! James Van Praagh can see and talk only to crossed-over ghosts. I think your husband has crossed over but you are very aware when he is visiting you, and you are seeing him. Jennifer, I think that your husband is exactly where he is supposed to be. | Ruth Houston, TX | Hello. I have experienced some things that I can't explain. I can't explain how I do them: read cards, hear voices, have dreams that come true. I don't want people to find out, but for some reason it just happens. Will this become stronger or can I block it? I also have a birthmark on my back. It's shaped like a scorpion with its tail up like it's ready to attack! How can I find out more about my birthmark? I really hope you have some type of answer. Regards, Ruth | |
| Hello Ruth, I cannot explain how you do what you do. Accept it as a gift or pray to have the gift taken back. It is very hard keeping a secret like this. If you really do not want these abilities to continue or develop, then you will have to block them. Do not talk about it, think about it, or use it. Maybe that will work. As far as your scorpion birthmark, were you born between October 23rd and November 21st? That would make your zodiac sign Scorpio. Mary Ann | ||
| Tami East Bethel, MN | Dear Mary Ann, Just in the last three days, I have smelled a strong scent of cigarette smoke around me. My husband cannot smell it at all. Neither of us smoke, nor are we around people who smoke. We live in a new house, so no one lived here before us that would have smoked. Both of my parents are deceased, as well as relatives and friends, who I know smoked. My question is, is it possible this is a ghost? My father has been gone for 30 years, my mother for nine years. Does the length of time matter? Recently, we had a family acquaintance pass away who smoked. Is it more likely the ghost is someone who died more recently? I feel this acquaintance would most likely not be friendly towards me. The smell is extremely annoying to me and I need it to go away. How would I do this? | Hi Tami, When you smell a scent in your house it can be from ghosts who have or have not crossed over. A scent that reminds you of someone-i.e. cologne, aftershave, pipe tobacco, or a cooking odor-is usually a person visiting that has crossed over. An annoying or foul smell-i.e. sewer gas, smoke, or rotten eggs-is usually a person visiting that has not crossed over. It makes no difference in either situation on how long that person has been dead. If your instinct is telling you that it is not friendly, then trust it. | Tania Victoria, Australia | Dear Mary Ann, My four-year-old daughter had just started three-year-old kindergarten when she became friends with a boy called Tonga. At first I thought he was one of her kindergarten friends but after talking to her teacher I realized there was no child at her kinder called Tonga. My daughter Hayley mentioned him often. I was not particularly worried as my eldest daughter also had a special friend once. Hayley had almost finised four-year-old kinder when one day, while I was shopping, Hayley announced that it was Tonga's birthday. Naturally I asked how old he was turning. I was quite alarmed when she told me he was 19. I started to ask a lot more questions. I thought an imaginary friend would be the same age as Hayley. She then went on to tell me that he had a daughter. She told me his surname, and that he died in a car crash. I guess at that point I was very worried. My mother and sister had researched our family tree, so I decided to research Tonga but I came to a dead end. However, my sister came across a woman of the same surname that had a son. His name was not Tonga but we were both amazed to see the name Tonga written in brackets next to his name. I don't know whether that meant it was his nickname or not. But the real shock was when we looked at his birth date and it was the exact date Hayley announced as his birthday. I remember this because we had a party for him. I then searched our the newspapers of the town Mudgee in New South Wales, where he was buried, and discovered that he had in fact died in a fatal car accident. Mary Ann, do you think that it is possible that my child was communicating with his spirit and there any way of knowing if he is earthbound or has passed over? Please let me know what you think. | Hi Tania, This is a great example of how innocent and open children are. They can see ghosts that have and have not crossed over. They can also see their guardian angels, spirit guides and their relatives. Your daughter at her age is communicating with both kinds of ghosts. However, I think Tonga is earthbound and he has found a friend in your daughter. Eventually, your daughter will loose this ability as she gets older and Tonga will move on to someone else. How very interesting that you were able to confirm all the information that your daughter gave you. Mary Ann |
