Welcome to the Jay Mohr Ghost Whisperer Tie challenge – a chance to decipher the hidden symbols on our loveable Professor Payne’s neckwear! For every new Ghost Whisperer episode, airing 8pm on CBS, we’ll present a scene description and super blurry photo from our scariest season ever and you (the greatest fans on Earth) will try figure out the symbols. To make things even more interesting we will also post a couple of riddles throughout the week that will either help you decipher the symbol or confuse you beyond belief! Let the games begin . . .

In our fantastic season opener you’ll find Jay Mohr at “Same as it Never Was” with Melinda, posing for pretty pictures . . . What’s the symbol on his tie?



Clue #1: “I’m sub-sonic baby, a must have.”

Season 3 – Episode 2



Bloody Mary, one of Ghost Whisperer’s scariest episodes ever, shows our adorable Professor Payne on the phone in his office at Rockland U with a playful tie dangling from his nervous neck. Now, we know you probably weren’t thinking about the tie, not with the havoc wreaking ghost on the prowl – so here’s a little help:





Clue #1: I’m special, not like all the rest – let’s just say I’m active . . . sand, water, sweet green grass. . . .

Clue #2: Fore score and seven go get ‘ems ago . . .


ANSWER: A golden retriever playing with golf clubs and balls

Season 3 - Episode 303


At the Village Square statue, in a touching moment of tribute, a commemorative plaque is added to the town square statue. Our cynical but sensitive Professor Payne brings a note of cheer with his choice of tie. What’s on it?




Clue #1: 64 minutes of fun in 1941, this loveable guy, no longer alone, hits the sky with a looney tone.

Clue #2: Okay, so I can't really fly - I'm way too heavy. But my friend is usually more comfortable in the water, so we're both a little out of our element.


ANSWER: Dumbo and the little Duck flying through the clouds . . .

Season 3 – Episode 4

Did you miss our wonderful Professor Payne this week? I sure did. So let's play around with Episode 3 again, since he wore two different ties that week. Okay, Professor Payne - in his office and hallway - ghosts are looking for the truth about why they died.






Clue #1: Sugar and Spice. A tall lean physique. Loyal to a fault and loveable for all time. Who's best friend is he?

Clue #2: My friends Moh and Ali like to come hang out, except things can get a little rough sometimes.


ANSWER: Boxers . . .

Season 3 – Episode 5 (there are two!)
1st: We're inside Professor Payne's Office as he cautions Melinda not to take Gabriel's Word. What's going on with his neckware?






Clue #1: “Barbar is my main squeeze doll, but I’ve been known to stray.”
Clue #2: “Are you jesting me hipster? I’ve got the skinny on Thornfield baby.”
Clue #3: "I've had a plain ol' good time - feels like the roaring 20s.


2nd: The second tie is worn in two different scenes. The first scene is intside the City Hall Archives when Tessa drops a box in front of Payne containing teeth. . . The next scene, wearing the same tie, Payne plays his heroic part in saving Melinda in the underground air pocket. Name that tie.




Clue #1: “I’ll meet you at the Blue Post Pub on Oxford Street – I’m the one in the corner hanging out with Hector and Butch.”

Season 3 – Episode 6
We see Jay sporting this tie in two different scenes: 1) when he's in his office as Melinda tells him about the ghostly image and then 2) when he's inside the photography studio as they find Claudia with her pictures broken.

First Clue: “Just call me Fearless Royalty ‘cuz I’m the King of chili dining.” Second Clue: “Formally dressed for success, I will slide my way right into your heart.”
