White Noise (2005)An architect's desire to speak with his wife from beyond the grave, becomes an obsession with supernatural repercussions.
The pregnant wife of the architect Jonathan Reeves (Michael Keaton) is missed after a car accident near a cliff, and the police do not know whether she is dead or abducted. Some weeks later, a mysterious man comes to Jonathan and tells him that his wife is dead and had communicated with him through Electronic Voice Phenomena. What Lies Beneath. (2000)

An American Haunting (2006)

Plot --- The movie opens in present times with a young girl having a dream about being chased by something unseen through the forest and into her house. Her mother comes to wake her up and finds an old binder of letters from the 1800's, as well as an old porcelain doll. The letters are from a previous occupant of the house, warning the mother that if she is reading the letters, and noticing supernatural happenings, then the unthinkable has come to pass. Although they are now ghosts, they can remain in their home; if they try to leave, they end up in another dimension, a desert world populated by enormous sandworms. The Fog (2005)

Plot --- The backstory of the film is somewhat similar to the orignal film. In the 1800's, a group of men conspired to mislead and murder the crew of the Elizabeth Dane, a clipper carrying a group of lepers seeking sanctuary. The Dane was captained by William Blake. a wealthy man infested with leprosy who made an agreement with the town's founders to buy half of the island for a leper colony. However, when the islanders' leaders meet with Blake onboard the Dane to make the purchase, the islanders double-cross the lepers, loot the ship and then set the ship on fire, slaughtering everyone onboard. In this film, the town of Antonio Bay is preparing to celebrate a new statue dedicated to the founding fathers of the town. This awakens the ghostly crew of the Elizabeth Dane, who have sworn revenge on the town for what the founding fathers did to them. Audrey Rose (1977)

Plot --- Awomen and her five year old daughter, Audrey Rose Hoover, are killed in a car accident. Two minutes later, Ivy is born nearby to Janice and Bill Templeton. Years later, when Ivy is almost eleven, she begins having nightmares. A stranger, Elliot Hoover, visits the Templeton family and tells them about his daughter and wife. He believes that his little girl was reincarnated in Ivy. Hoover is able to calm Ivy's recurrent nightmares down by calling her Audrey Rose, but after he abduts her, he is arrested. His subsequent attemps to srgue a case for reincarnation at his trial became a cause celebre. A leit motif in the novel/movie is the Hindu belief of reincarnation. There are constant references to Hinduism, of the belief that human soul's does not die, but is immortal. The movie ends with a quotation from the Bhagvad Gita-the holy book of Hindus. Over Her Dead Body (2008)

Plot ---Kate [Eva Longoria Parker] and Henry [Paul Rudd] are about to be married, but on the day of their wedding, Kate is accidentally killed by an ice sculpture of an angel, after and argument with the sculptor about the lack of wings. After a year Henry reluctantly agrees to consult a psychic named Ashley [Lake Bell] at the urging of his sister Chloe, arguing that Kate may tell him to get on with his life. Chloe gives Ashley Kate's diary, so that Ashley learns information about Kate which seemingly demonstrates psychic abilities. Despite his initial skepticism over these abilities, Henry is impressed. Moreover, Henry and Ashley fall in love. However, Kate's ghost, who only Ashley can see, is jealous and harasses Ashley to force her to break up with Henry. Ashley persists, but Henry discovers the fraud with the diary and breaks up the relationship. The ghost of the sculptor who created the angel that killed Kate helps her decide that she wants Henry to be ahppy afterall. The movie ends with Henry and Ashley getting married and Kate going back to heaven. An extra storyline is about Ashley's assistant Dan [Jason Biggs] who has claimed for years to be gay, allowing him to be Ashley's best frriend without sexual connotations. She is upset when Dan confesses to be heterosexual, and to have lied to her because he liked the intimacy, even thou it was non-sexual. Nevertheless they go on hloiday together after Ashley and Henry break up. Being in love with her, Dan is disappointed that Ashley chooses Henry. Ghost Town (2008)




Bertram Pincus is a man whose people skills leave much to be desired. When Pincus dies unexpectedly, but is miraculously revived after seven minutes, he wakes up to discover that he now has the annoying ability to see ghosts. Even worse, they all want something from him, particularly Frank Herlihy who pesters him into breaking up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen. That puts Pincus squarely in the middle of a triangle with spirited result.
