Baby Rant...This is a featured page

DantanaFan15 has something she wants to talk about!!!:

I mean no offence, but what the hell is the matter with these writers? I wonder if they do their research about the fans?
First they kill off Jim, and then they say we were going to be satisfied in the end - and, yeah okay, we were. Everyone was alright, yeah? At least I think the majority of us were. But now, there were SO many foreshadows of this baby being a girl, and everyone got their hopes up and were all excited for a little mini Melinda, and then they twist it all upside down and say that it's a boy.... I don't know about everyone else, but it seems to me like every board I visit and every spoiler link I connect to, everyone really wanted Melinda to have a girl. I've seen comments on YouTube. I've seen threads on tvGuide and Spoiler.com. There are TONS of fans here and there that wanted the baby to be a girl. Now, I understand that we fans can't always get what we want, but the writers of Ghost Whisperer are always saying how they are determined to please the fans.
Hmm...
I love Ghost Whisperer. It's my second favourite show on television. But I have to be brutally honest here and say that it is so not the same GW I watched when I was 11. Everything is changing and I'm not really loving it. I mean, I love that they brought a baby into the show - but a boy just doesn't seem to tie in. I think it might be the fact that the gift has been hereditary through only the females for generations. None of Mel's family members with the gift have been male, and therefore I believe that it is because of this that nobody really seems to like the way it is written. And it nearly changes the entire feel of the show. Okay... Alright think about it this way:
Melinda and Melissa (a figurative term for her daughter, just go with it). They are chasing a ghost down a manhole. Melissa is 15 years old, Melinda her biggest influence, her best teacher. Together they work fighting off the evil and sending the good into the light. And this ghost leads them way down to the bottom of the manhole. He is angry. Pipes are bursting and water is spurting in every direction at every angle. The bottom starts to fill with water, it rises. Mel and Melissa come to find that they aren't quite at the very bottom yet. There is another level below them. Pipes are falling, panic rises in Mel and Mel. Melinda, being determined as she is, says, "I have to go down there". Melissa responds with, "Mom, you can't!" And even though Mel doesn't want to leave her daughter there alone, she has to for her safety. Pipes fall everywhere. The water is still rising. One falls on Melissa and she is knocked out. Melinda comes back up, feeling guilty for leaving her daughter there all alone, now because she was hurt. She pulls off all the peices of pipe and metal and Melissa's head is bleeding. They are all wet and anxious. Melissa wakes up and Melinda apologizes, "Oh my god! Sweetheart, I am so sorry! I'm so sorry" "It's okay, mom. I'm alright" "You're bleeding" "I'll be okay". Melinda pulls her daughter closer to her and they embrace. Then they sit, waiting for Jim to come save his queen and his little princess. Melinda and Melissa are hereby best friends. As Mary Anne was to Melinda when she was Melissa's age.
Now, take all of this and oppose it to her son. Could you imagine?
I am sorry, but the boy is not going to want to grow up a momma's boy. He will be teased in school. And what the hell is Jim going to be able to do? He can't help his son because he doesn't know how. Sure, he could give those words of wisdom that he always gives Melinda that we all love so much, but if this baby is a boy and he has all those powers, I am going to feel deathly sympathetic for him. He is not going to want to follow his mom down a manhole to chase a ghost. He is going to want to play sports and hang with his friends and hit on girls, and how in the world is he supposed to do that when he can do what he does?
At least with a girl she can be with Melinda all the time without being bullied and know how to handle what she does. She might want to hang with her friends and hit on boys too, but being a girl with plenty of guy friends, I know that girls are more likely to be superstitious than guys - my statistics may be biased, mind you, but I don't know of many guys that actually believe in ghosts and the paranormal.
I don't know for sure, but wasn't Jim sceptic before he met Mel?
But come on, you've gotta love the vision of Jim and a little girl. A daughter that he can take camping and teach to play basketball.
I know, he can do these with a boy too, but really? REALLY? A boy with the gift plus some... I can't see it. A little Melinda, sure.
But I gotta be brutally honest here and say that I have never in my life - I'm only 15, but 60 percent of my life is tv - have I ever been so sad about the results of a baby's gender! I have never wanted to cry over something that I saw on tv that went against what I wanted, up until now. I had really high hopes for the Clancy baby girl, and they were crushed.
Maybe, I don't know, it's because I want to be an actor and I thought that if they had a girl then I had an ounze of shot at Ghost Whisperer - lame excuses.
Or, maybe I was disappointed because even during this rant I have been trying to think of a way to argue with myself that the boy will be a good addition, but I can't see it. I just can't! Maybe that's because, like I mentioned before, they have never had a boy with the ability to see ghosts before - at least, not that I have seen.
I don't know how that poor child is going to be able to survive through High School having to run to his mommy everytime he experiences a run-in with an Earthbound. And if he chooses to go to Jim, I don't see how Jim is going to be able to help him either, because he doesn't have it.
Coming from a momma's girl, I know that girls don't get picked on for being friends with their parents. See, if it were a girl she could go to both of them.
But I still can't get over this boy baby thing. This idea. It's definately different, but I don't know how well people will respond to it. I just don't see this baby tieing into the story. But I was so convinced that it was a girl, and thinking deeply, and trust me I've thought about it for a long time and I have TONS of fanfiction from 2005 plus to prove it, I just don't even know HOW to picture Jim and Melinda with a baby boy. Well, I mean, besides the whole onsies and bedtime schedules and lullabies and "little man Jim" and such. But that stuff is corny-cute, and we don't see it much on GW.
I'm talkin' like THE BIG PICTURE.
Think about this boys future!
And with a girl, there are so many cute other things they can go through.
A boy: Alright, lets see: first word, first steps, first crush, first girlfriend, puberty (definately a job for big ol' Jimbo over here...:] haha), Physical Education - problem in the changerooms maybe? (I apologize for graphic content, but I'm just trying to stay real here.)...
Okay, scenario. So the boy is 13. He has a crush on this really pretty girl named... Chelsea. Chelsea is cute and perky and has the most adorable sence of humor and... Jack (figurative term for their son, ride the flow) really wants to ask her out but he doesn't know how, so he goes to Jim.
Alright, great.
Jim gives Jack the advice he needs and he gets the girl. But what has he done to his son now?
Uh oh. Chelsea's dad doesn't like the idea of Chelsea with a boyfriend.
Uh oh. Now Jack is being threatened... Jim just threw his kid in with the aligators.
A'ight, I get it. This is how it works. BUT, on the other hand:
This boy named Cody has a really big crush on Melissa. Why? Because she is sporty and spunky and perky and cute. Yes?
So, Cody comes around and asks Melissa out and she says yes. So now, instead of Jim sending his kid to be eaten, he actually gets to be the aligator.
"I like you, Cody," he says.
"Thankyou, sir" Says Cody.
"But I love my daughter" Jim says.
"Of course sir"
"She's my little girl - if you hurt her, you might want to be careful coming around here. It might be... unhealthy" (See the threat?)
"I understand Mr. Clancy (Or Lucas, whichever), But I don't plan on hurting your daughter in any way"
"That's good. But remember this conversation for future references, just in case." Warns Jim.
See, now when he is on this side of the fence he gets to freak the kid out, but protect his daughter - this whole time, Cody's dad not knowing what is REALLY going on in the pond, where he sent his son to be eaten.
You see where I'm getting at with this?
Sure, Melinda gets the pride of being happy - but you know, this could go both ways and vice versa for her. So when this topic comes to argue, she isn't exactly a strong point. This is all Jim.

So, with a little girl...
- Jim gets the right to be "the only man in her life".

- With a boy, Jim WANTS him to get a girlfriend, and feels pride when he gets his first.

- Nicknames can come up at any point and can be anything for a girl ~ Peanut, Sweetheart, Honey, Bug... ect.

- Not so sure how a boy feels about being called Sweetheart by his dad? Sport, I guess. Little man... not alot.

-The first time she wears makeup Jim gets to yell at her to take it off, then she gets to yell back at him and yell she hates him and slam doors and then when it's all over they get to make up and she's Daddy's little girl again.

-When she shaves her legs for the first time

- I think we can all agree that shaving a face is quite a bit different than shaving your legs?

The whole nickname thing, Melinda is counted. I guess it all depends on how they raise him, but still. I have a 17 year old cousin, and he'd kick you hard if you called him Honey.

Moving on...
- When she hits Puberty. Definately a Melinda thing.

- Gift. Melinda

- Basketball. Jim. The one thing that they can actually have in common.

- Boys. Now Mel gets to be proud and Jim gets to hold her back and let her loose.

- He can sing her some cute songs. :)

-They can have a special father-daughter bonding trip, like camping maybe? Then Melinda can do what she wants for awhile. Peace and quiet. Silence is golden. Yeah? Well I like it...

What I'm trying to say, is that the son isn't going to want to go to his mom everytime he has a problem with his gift.

I could argue this point FOREVER, but now you are probably getting tired.
If I think of other things though, I will be on here again ;)
This is my summer hobby.
Just for the record, it made me feel alot better. The episode ended 2 hours ago and I was totally bummed.
But now that I have expressed my opinions I feel better.
Anyway, my novel is resting for now.

And I think that I am not the only fan who would agree with this...

Thanks for taking the time to read this, BTW.
I know it was long :)
But it is definately appreciated ♥

Still sticking with my twins idea!!! :) I agree with EVERYTHING you said just now, except what do you think abou the name Juliette Faith Clancy? Her twin is Joel and he's like his gramma (doesn't want anything to do with the gift)
- I was thinking about twins too! I really like your idea, ghostwhispered. Juliette Faith Clancy is a beautiful name, I like it :) I like the Joel idea too. That's something I was thinking about - them having twins, the boy being the only one seen, everyone thinking that since he was the only baby seen he could do what Mel does, but then surprise! A baby girl is in there too, and she's the one that ends up with the gift. I like it. I think that the writers should go with that ;) And thanks for agreeing with me, I appreciate it :) haha.
- DantanaFan15 ♥
Then you will be very happy with what I found! take a look!
Nice find! I was actually thinking about that episode. I still REALLY hope that its a girl though. I dont think Eric will be reincarnated because he crossed over. He cant be reincarnated... But, did Zoe cross over at the end of the episode? I dont remember. If she didnt, maybe she reincarnates the baby's body? :)
Look whos got another theory ;)

I know eric crossed over, I just wanted to show you that JVp may have given it away that it is twins.
Oh! haha, yeah maybe :)
And just to help get DANTANAFAN15's point across...baby rant on youtube! -ghostwhispered
haha, OMG thankyou! ^_^ lol
you're welcome! Oh! I felt the same way after watching POTC 3. I'm totally obsessed, but did Will really have to die and take Davy Jones' place. Loophole!!! Destroy the damn ship!!!! Wow!!! I never watch the ending now. I'm dead serious. I also made a story for that. i now have my character (Jack's daughter), Isabella Jane Sparrow. My story's really good and I had it on a word document, but I reformatted my computer a few months ago and lost everything (even after I backed it up). I had to deal with this same thing when I was eleven, but with POTC, they have said multiple times they will not be making another, so anything can happen. Ghost Whisperer is set in stone and all ready for another season, so now I'm REALLY bummed.
You said on YouTube that it's a fact they lost 5 million viewers? Well I'll bet you anything they wont be back for a 6th season if they keep up this bullshit. I'm so pissed. lol... Omg, I had a dream last night and Jennifer Love Hewitt was in it. That's twice now... Weird... XP

RIGHT AFTER the episode was over...I went and made like, 5 posts about how MAD AND DISSAPOINTED I WAS!!!!!! No one else was even on... they were probably all in shock!
